LIiDA is Legal Intervention in Domestic Abuse.

“Every person has the right to live free from fear of sexual and domestic violence. These crimes can leave a lasting impact on survivors, their families, and our communities. By intervening early and connecting survivors and vulnerable people with the resources they need, we can help break the cycle of violence and prevent re-victimization.” - Virginia Attorney General

Legal Intervention in Domestic Abuse (LIiDA) is a non-profit organization that provides funding for legal assistance in obtaining protective orders for those who cannot afford legal help through other channels, helping to prevent continuing abuse and re-victimization. Many victims of domestic abuse cannot afford legal help and end up in courts facing their abusers with little or no support.  Courts cannot find enough help through probono and other resources to cover the number of protective orders requested each year.

LIiDA provides funds for a law firm that provides free representation in Protective Order hearings for victims of domestic abuse, stalking, and harassment. Our contracted attorney has ten years of litigation experience and extensive familiarity with domestic abuse cases. He has also agreed to work with our clients at a drastically reduced fee. Our mission is to fund work within our local community to prevent violence, empower those who may otherwise feel they have no recourse, and increase an understanding of individuals' legal rights in relation to domestic abuse.

LIiDA works in Central Virginia, primarily in the counties of Henrico and Chesterfield and in the city of Richmond.

We are a small team, but we are dedicated to doing all we can to support our local community.
